A truly special space, Raphael Court is vast and imposing, reminiscent of a chapel. In fact, it’s floor plan replicates that of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, for which the displayed Raphael Cartoons – on loan to the V&A from the Royal Collection by Her Majesty the Queen – were commissioned.
The recent refurbishment brought a series of meticulously considered changes, most noticeably painting the walls a dark luxurious blue and the gilding of the archway entrance in gold, reminiscent of the gold frames within which Rafael’s Cartoons sit.
In addition to being a fabulous home for Raphael’s Cartoons and a true highlight for visitors to the Museum during the day, Raphael Court is also a sensational setting for an evening dinner or reception. Entertain up to 400 guests in the presence of the greatest treasures of the Renaissance.
