Meet Tom Kocinski, Senior Event Manager
Meet Tom, one of our Senior Event Managers. Having joined Moving Venue in the early part of 2024, we take time to get to know Tom and understand more about his first few months with us.
Tom, how are you?
I write this having a slightly sore head and gruff voice as it was our work pre-Christmas social last night, before we ramp up into the busy Christmas season. There was plenty of food and drink and I was gifted a Christmas-themed goodie bag, whilst we all did some bowling and I somehow got coaxed into doing karaoke.
All this added up to a wonderful night, and nights like these really do help you bond and connect with everyone in the company.
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO JOIN US HERE AT MOVING VENUE?
I’m about to complete eight months here and I couldn’t be happier in my job, I was drawn to the company knowing their reputation for being one of the top event caterers in London and certainly the most experienced. In a previous role, we were pitching and losing business to Moving Venue, and seeing the end product and impressive delivery on their social media, it was a personal goal to join should the opportunity ever present itself. And now that I am here I completely get why we continue to win business and keep clients coming back.
HAS MOVING VENUE MET YOUR OWN PERSONAL EXPECTATIONS?
I have to say, I have been particularly impressed by the commitment by the whole of the company, from the finesse of the initial stage of enquiry with the sales team, through to the planning department and onto the delivery by the chefs, logistics and operational teams. Everyone is always unified in working together. For each event no matter how big or how small it is, everyone brings their A-Game to ensure every guest has an amazing time eating incredible food and sublime bespoke cocktails/mocktails.
Aside from my own career goals, it was important for me to work for a company where they value their employees. It was hugely impressive to me that Moving Venue offer employee discounts for restaurants and bars across London. There’s huge incentive trips and just within the past year some of the Operations team have enjoyed trips to New York and Champagne. They also offer medical health cover and enhanced parental leave pay, I feel are also lovely perks that employees really want these days.
When joining it was really important for me to feel part of the company and to work with people with whom I’d also consider friends, as let’s be honest we spend more time together than we do with our friends and family so I needed to choose the right people with whom I work. I definitely made the right choice, I feel very much a part of the furniture already. I have an incredibly talented and experienced Senior team at Director level that I can learn from and who have ‘been there and done it’ with Moving Venue. Their eye for detail is only aiding my development. I’m being entrusted to deliver important and complex events, showing the trust and faith they have in me. There’s no micro-management here, just guidance which is really important for myself to feel I can progress. The whole team was super welcoming, and everyone took their time to speak with me to get to know me and help me settle in and understand the Moving Venue way of systems and processes. Not to mention the food, the event food is just incredible and the fact we get lunch made for us everyday, it’s simply amazing. We are encouraged to work from home one day a week, and early starts are extremely rare should we be on-site of an evening, which helps keep the work-life balance in a good place.
