Manga Exhibition Launch
We were thrilled to support the British Museum on the launch of their new Manga exhibition.
Moving Venue were thrilled to be selected to support the British Museum on the 21st May in the launch of their new Manga exhibition, the world’s largest exhibition of this art style outside of Japan. We had the exciting task of developing creative culinary and styling concepts that both enhanced and encompassed the theme and style of Manga, working alongside the production and floristry partners for the event, Wise Productions and Lavender Green.
The styling featured monochrome black and white bases with pops of neon colour; the VIP dinner table layup for 40 guests featured mostly black chairs and napkins with the occasional sporadic orange setting. Similarly, on the bespoke bar featuring a Manga drawing of the British Museum’s roof, there were pops of orange glasses amongst the mainly white spread.
400 guests arrived for the reception and were treated to a bespoke menu designed by our Group Executive Head Chef, David Ridgway. Highlights included canapés such as Hikari Hanazona, Masters of the Onigiri – traditional Japanese rice balls with nori; and two Japanese food stations featuring dishes such as fresh scallops and sea bass with tiger milk and sweet potato, as well as an Okonomiyaki Bar, serving traditional Japanese pancakes with a selection of toppings. The dinner menu featured delicious flavour combinations such as Japanese braised beef short-ribs, soy, sake and shiitake, ginger and miso kabocha, wilted black kale, water chestnut gyozas for the main course and yuzu panna cotta, roasted pineapple, lychees in fragrant syrup and coconut ice cream as the delectable dessert to finish.
This truly was a fantastic opportunity to grasp an unusual concept and turn it into a spectacular experience for the guests in the stunning setting of the British Museum and one that we very much enjoyed! If you haven’t yet seen the Manga Exhibition – visit before it’s too late!
