The Children's Magical Taxi Tour 2024
On Friday, September 20th, we had the honour of providing catering for the Children's Magical Taxi Tour, one of our most beloved annual events. This remarkable charity initiative, brings together more than 200 children courageously facing chronic, debilitating, or life-limiting illnesses, along with their families, and takes them on a three-day journey to Disneyland Paris.
The Children's Magical Taxi Tour
On Friday 20th September, we had the privilege of catering for the Children’s Magical Taxi Tour, one of our favourite and most cherished annual events. This extraordinary charity initiative, organised by the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers, unites over 200 children who are bravely battling chronic, debilitating or life-limiting illnesses and their families, and whisks them away on a three-day adventure to Disneyland Paris. The amazing convoy can reach over three miles long and consists of more than 90 taxis, escorts from the City of London Police and Gendarmerie Nationale, London Ambulance NHS trust vehicles and the AA. It is a truly magical experience which we are honoured to have been part of for the last two years.
Each year, an immense amount of organisation goes into making this event happen, and we were humbled to support by providing a delicious breakfast feast for the attendees, event sponsors and emergency services ahead of their big journey. Hosted by our friends at The Pelligon, this year’s breakfast also benefitted from the generous support of 30 volunteers from Team MV and the wider Smart Group, many of whom started their days at 2am, to assist with cooking, serving and supervising the event.
The spread featured a delightful full English breakfast, an array of fresh fruit, delectable pastries, and our extra special Mickey Mouse pancakes, which went down an absolute treat. Whilst enjoying their breakfast, guests were also entertained by live performances from the Rochester Brass Band adding to the excited atmosphere.
After breakfast, we had the pleasure of waving off everyone as they embarked on their magical journey. It was an incredibly touching moment and we hope that all the children and their families had the trip of a lifetime, and we look forward to doing it all again next year!
