The Children's Magical Taxi Tour 2024

On Friday, 20th September, we had the privilege of catering for the Children’s Magical Taxi Tour, one of our favourite and most cherished annual events. This extraordinary charity initiative, organised by the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers, brings together over 200 children who are bravely battling chronic, debilitating, or life-limiting illnesses and their families, whisking them away on a three-day adventure to Disneyland Paris. The amazing convoy can stretch over three miles and consists of more than 90 taxis, accompanied by escorts from the City of London Police and Gendarmerie Nationale, London Ambulance NHS Trust vehicles, and the AA. It is a truly magical experience which we have been honoured to be part of for the last two years.

Each year, an immense amount of organisation goes into making this event happen, and we were humbled to support it by providing a delicious breakfast feast for the attendees, event sponsors, and emergency services ahead of their big journey. Hosted by our friends at The Pelligon, this year’s breakfast also benefitted from the generous support of 30 volunteers from Team MV and the wider Smart Group, many of whom began their day at 2am to assist with cooking, serving, and supervising the event.

The spread featured a delightful full English breakfast, an array of fresh fruit, delectable pastries, and our extra special Mickey Mouse pancakes, which were an absolute hit. Whilst enjoying their breakfast, guests were also entertained by live performances from the Rochester Brass Band, adding to the excited atmosphere.

After breakfast, we had the pleasure of waving everyone off as they embarked on their magical journey. It was an incredibly touching moment, and we hope that all the children and their families had the trip of a lifetime. We look forward to doing it all again next year!
