Now January is really underway, Moving Venue takes a moment to reflect on the highlights of 2014 and make some predictions for the year ahead.
The caterer celebrated its 30th birthday last year and to mark the occasion unveiled a brand new website and a particularly busy October guests including celebrities and members of the Royal family at three prestigious awards ceremonies, Man Booker Prize; Barclaycard Mercury Prize at Roundhouse; and Wildlife Photographer of the Year at the Natural History Museum.
December saw Moving Venue partner with LSO St Luke’s for the first time to create a ‘Classic Christmas’ package. The combination of Moving Venue’s contemporary, innovative catering and LSO St Luke’s Grade 1 listed, 18th Century architecture and elegant styling, proved to be a winning one and plans are now being finalised for December this year.
The London based caterer, who has 30 years’ experience in the industry, identified some notable trends in 2014 and over the Christmas period which are important considerations for the year ahead. Moving Venue has noticed requests getting more adventurous and challenging for events in particular discerning clients now expect what is happening on the London restaurant scene to be reflected at their events. Peruvian food is having its moment, particularly with the success of Lima Floral and Ceviche and consequently requests for ceviche food stations matched with pisco sour cocktails have soared. The caterer also saw these changes echoed throughout the Christmas party season as demand for Christmas dinners has decreased in favour of more modern concepts such as food stalls and reincarnations of classic cocktails.
Gail Heron, sales and marketing director at Moving Venue commented, “Moving Venue had a memorable 2014, particularly as we celebrated our 30th birthday. After so many years in the business we are no strangers to change, in fact we embrace it and make every effort to use the feedback and suggestions we receive from clients to constantly reinvent our offering to keep us ahead of the game. We were privileged to work with many of the iconic and unique venues in London last year and we are very much looking forward to continuing this through 2015.”
