I think a wedding is such a personal day and for a couple to allow you to be a part of that is a wonderful experience. Finding out what they both like and dislike, crafting the perfect menu utilising my love of food, recommending some of the best suppliers to ensure their whole day is looked after carefully – I enjoy it all. I spend a lot of time with my couples and build strong relationships, so when the big day comes it is wonderful to see all of their ideas come together and watch them and their guests enjoying it!
It is important that when a couple comes to me I am as honest as possible. It would be wonderful if budgets were never an issue, however for most couples it will be a combination of their own savings or help from family. So, it’s getting the balance between meeting the expectations of my couples whilst creating a truly special day and turning their wedding day dreams into a reality.
Good wedding suppliers can be very hard to find. Professionalism is a key factor for me – suppliers need to be efficient in responding to both myself and my clients, and this will be reflected in the service provided on the day itself. Whether it’s your florist or your entertainment for the evening, you will know if they are the right supplier for you.
Catering is such a key part of a couple’s day, so it’s essential they relay everything they want in terms of food and drinks to their caterers and ensure a tasting is provided. This will be the first opportunity the couple have to see the caterer in action and know if they are the right choice for them. It can also be tricky choosing your menu, as you’re deciding based on your friends and family. I always suggest couples choose what they want for their day rather than trying to please everyone, which is normally impossible!
