Moving Venue celebrate apples and pears with bespoke menu for industry event


Last Wednesday (24th September), Moving Venue catered the launch of English apples and pears season for 100 high profile grocers and retailers at the Foundling Museum with English Apples & Pears Ltd.

The event, previously held at Eltham Palace and Queens House (Royal Museums Greenwich) gave industry professionals an opportunity to learn about the background to the season and product. The launch also coincides with the start of British Food Fortnight which is celebrating British food with their ‘Bring Home the Harvest’ campaign.

The bespoke menu, devised by Moving Venue’s Head Chef, Steve Williams, celebrated English apples and pears whilst adding a creative and modern twist. The evening began with hand dived Dorset scallops, cured in orange and tarragon, toasted sesame seeds, Gala apple gel, salt marsh herb salad, air dried apple shavings; with roasted rump of Kent lamb, purple potatoes, pickled red cabbage and Bramley apple, tricolour of heritage English carrots, apple blossom, lamb jus; followed by Bramley apple and Concorde pear pithivier, Cox and molasses puree, whipped clotted cream, frosted pistachios and macadamia nuts.
